Compact Fluorescent Lighting

CFL

Did you know that we have been using the same light bulb technology since 1871? Incandescent light bulbs have not changed much since their introduction in the late 19th century. They continue to be an inefficient light source that is still used by the majority of New Yorkers. There are very efficient alternatives available with the best choice being ENERGY STAR® qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)

ENERGY STAR® qualified CFLs, are a cost effective alternative to incandescent light bulbs. CFLs are 75% more efficient and last up to 10 times longer than incandescents, and come with a 2 year warranty!. Unlike incandescents, CFLs are cool to the touch and are available in a wide variety of styles, sizes, and color temperatures. CFLs turn-on instantly and do not hum, flicker, or buzz.

Not only are ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs energy-efficient, but they also save you money. One CFL will save you up to $70 in energy costs over its lifetime! If you begin by changing change the five most used incandescents in your house to ENERGY STAR CFLs, you would save up to $50 annually. Imagine the savings you would see if you switched out all your light bulbs!
