Gas Efficiency Incentives for Con Edison Customers
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) will
administer a $14 million program on behalf of Con Edison, expanding its existing
efficiency programs to include gas efficiency initiatives. Programs will be
available for both the commercial and residential sectors.
The Program helps eligible participants manage their gas costs by identifying
potential gas efficiency measures and providing incentives for implementing
those improvements.
Eligible participants include all natural gas customers in the Con Edison Service
territory who are on a firm rate structure and pay the Monthly Rate Adjustment (MRA)
charge. Interruptible customers are not eligible. Eligibility to participate in the
low-income components of this plan will be set at households at or below 80% of
State Median Income.
How can I receive an incentive?
Homeowners
For a limited time only - financing as low as 1.99% APR or up to
25% CASH BACK is available when you make energy efficient
improvements to your home. These financial incentives are available to help you:
- Replace your boiler, furnace, or hot water heater with a new energy efficient model
- Insulate and air seal your home
- Install new appliances, lighting, windows and doors
To participate, follow these three simple steps:
- Schedule a Comprehensive Home Energy Assesment with a specially trained, participating, BPI Accredited Contractor in your area.
- The contractor will perform an energy assessment on your home to let you know what the most cost-effective home improvements are that you can make. They will also tell you more about the financial incentives available to help pay for this work.
- You decide what improvements to make on your home. The contractor will complete the work for you and they will help get the low-interest financing or cash-back incentives processed for you!
Only BPI Accredited contractors can offer these special incentives through the
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program. To get started now,

Multifamily Building Owners
There are two ways for multifamily customers to receive incentives from NYSERDA
for gas saving measures. If you are considering custom or prescriptive gas
saving measures for a building in the Consolidated Edison gas territory, that
can be analyzed through a measure specific technical study, then look into the
Multifamily Gas Efficiency Performance Program. If you are considering a
comprehensive whole building approach, which would include other technologies
and fuel sources, then look into the Multifamily Performance Program.
Multifamily Gas Efficiency Performance Program
NYSERDA provides incentives that can help defray cost for installing
energy-efficient measures that reduce gas consumption in buildings located in
the Consolidated Edison territory. Building owners can receive incentives for
custom gas saving measures based on analyzed savings from technical studies.
Buildings may qualify for an incentive based on either $2.00 times the estimated
annual gas savings (Therms) of the proposed custom gas improvement for market
rate buildings, or $2.50 times the estimated annual gas savings (Therms) for
affordable housing.
Multifamily Performance Program
NYSERDA provides a range of incentives to owners of
existing multifamily buildings to pay for
energy-efficient improvements. The Multifamily Performance Program uses a whole
building approach for electric, gas, and oil efficiency improvements. This
includes a complete energy assessment, financing resource to complete the work,
and oversight and monitoring after the work is complete. Low-income building
owners can qualify for additional incentives. Special incentives are also
available for advanced meters, combined heat and power (CHP) projects, and
photovoltaic systems.
If you are looking to improve the energy efficiency of
new multifamily buildings then NYSERDA will
assist to install high efficiency heating systems and utilizing building systems
that reduce energy consumption. Additional incentives are available for
low-income project developers, advanced meter installations, load control
systems, and to help developers of affordable projects attain LEED certification.
