Renting? Start Saving Today!
Save money on your energy bill and improve the comfort of your home or apartment by
following these simple energy-saving tips.
NYSERDA also offers programs to help tenants work with their landlord to reduce your
energy costs, while also improving the health, comfort, and durability of your home
or apartment.
If you live in a one- to four-family home, the
Home Performance
with ENERGY STAR Program will find where the house is losing energy and provide
financial incentives to help the homeowner make the necessary efficiency
improvements. Your landlord may not be aware of the financial benefits and value of
improving the energy efficiency of their income properties. And additional
financial incentives may be available for income-eligible households. Refer your
property manager or landlord to a Home Performance contractor in your area or call
1-877-NY-Smart to save money, save energy, and save the environment.
If you live in a building with five units or more, NYSERDA’s
Multifamily Performance Program connects with
building owners, property managers and other housing organizations to improve the
energy efficiency of the building to reduce energy costs for tenants and provide a
more comfortable living environment. This Program provides a customized approach to
energy efficiency using a Multifamily Performance Partner that can guide the
building owner through every step of the process.
