The topics will include:- NEC grounding requirements for solar PV- Grounding recommendations for small wind systems- Electrical system grounds and equipment grounds- Sizing a grounding conductor- Using an ohmmeter to test grounding system resistance- Needs for additional ground rods- Electrical system diagrams- Code enforcement of groundingInstructor: Court Rutherford has over 30 years of experience in the energy field. His company designs, sells, installs and service all types of energy system with over a 100 systems in operation in New York State, including solar PV electric, solar hot water, solar pool heat, small wind, geothermal HVAC, and other electrical generation systems. Court is a graduate of Whitman School of management at Syracuse University.Number of Days: 1Price: $300 (Most participants qualify for a scholarship reducing course fees to $150 for employed and $15 for unemployed)Certification: 6.5 PDH, 0.65 CEUThe RETC is funded through a $2 million grant awarded under the Presidents Community-based Job Training Grants, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. The Central New York Region has significant natural capital to fuel a renewable energy industry, including wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and biofuels. These industries require a skilled workforce from local communities to succeed. The success of these industries will boost the regional economy and reduce the energy requirements met with non-renewable resources.
